Character Name: Nero
Age: 24
Canon: Devil May Cry
Canon Point: Post-DMC5

CRAU: N/A

History: Over here

Personality:

+ Sassy - Most would call this boy a jackass upon meeting him, but really, Nero just has a good sense of humor. Whether it's banter with his family or shit-talking demons, he enjoys throwing around his words for fun and to get things going.

+ Smart - Despite appearances and sometimes even how he acts, Nero is smarter than what a lot of people may think at first. He pays attention to details a lot, even if he doesn't always react well to them at the time.

+ Adaptable - Being a devil hunter means he has to always be on his toes. Nero has had to change plenty with the times since his upbringing in Fortuna, to even nowadays with being the new protector of the human realm. He's faced a lot more than he ever imagined in a short amount of time, but he's risen to the task and faced it head-on each and every time.

+ Friendly - Sassy? Yes. A jackass? Also yes. But Nero, despite these things, is one of those people who is usually friendly with just about everyone he meets (unless you give off bad vibes or piss him off from the get-go). He'll joke with strangers, toss out opinions that make others do a bit of a double-take, and throw humor at someone who may or may not be having a great day. Overall, he's far easier to approach and talk with compared to his younger self five years ago.

+ Kind - He has one of the biggest hearts when it comes to his own personality. He forgave his own father, who showed up one day out of nowhere and tore his arm right out of its socket and left him to bleed out and die, because he wanted to know Vergil and have the family he'd always wanted as a kid. Nero helps his girlfriend Kyrie run an orphanage in Fortuna, and took up devil hunting as a way to have income to make sure the place would still have utilities and money to keep things running.

+ Loyal - While not always trusting of people, once someone proves themselves as reliable, Nero is incredibly loyal to them. Whether it's asking for help or just checking to make sure things are okay, he'll do whatever he can to help those he honestly cares for.

+ Determined - This boy went and grew back an arm from sheer determination to save the twins from killing each other. Nero will honestly stop at nothing to make sure something he wants to accomplish gets done, even if his own needs get ignored in the process.

- Stubborn - Like his father, Nero is incredibly stubborn and will dig his heels in if the wrong things are said or indicated. You could point all the positives out to him in a straight line- but if he's already made up his mind, he'll more than likely refuse to change it or hear anyone else out.

- Temper - Although not as bad as when he was younger, Nero still has a fiery temper that comes from both his father and his demonic heritage. Patience is not one of his strong points, and it shows in how he can easily blow up at someone who actually pushes him in something or pries at him in a way he doesn't like.

- Guilt issues - His biggest issue is he takes the blame of his adopted brother's death as it being his own fault, because he wasn't strong enough to save Credo. Despite him literally being held captive by a giant stone hand and unable to move, Nero still insists that if he had the power back then, he could have saved him. Situations where he has no control over everything goes, and the plan goes to shit usually end up being a weight on his shoulders. He'll take the blame for it rather than accept that it was no one's fault, and that he couldn't do anything at all.

- Problem Child(TM) - Why yes, I think I will wake up today and Cause Problems On Purpose(TM). Nero has a habit of being a shithead if someone is a thorn in his side, or if he's in a bad mood. He'll lash out at people and then withdraw, refusing to talk about the issue and instead just wallow in self-blame or anger for what seems like ages. He has been known to hold grudges for MONTHS because of this.

- Predictable - With all of these combined, sometimes Nero can be read like an open book. He keeps his heart on his sleeve and reacts accordingly, being loud and rowdy and also easily provokable. Without any sort of training or interest in hiding his attacks, he can be easy to avoid if you know how he fights. After all, most of his approach to fighting is "if it didn't fall the first time to my hits, I just need to hit it harder."

Abilities:

Part-demon heritage:
Devil trigger: Nero follows along with his family in having a demon form that allows him to hit faster, hit harder, and essentially strike people with four claws instead of two (thanks to his two ephemeral wings having claws and acting like arms). He's taller, speaks in dual-tone, also has a few special moves such as Maximum Bet and Showdown.

Enhanced abilities- strength, endurance, speed: Even without his demonic form, Nero is capable of fighting enemies large and small and taking hits that normal people wouldn't survive. He can move fast enough to escape incoming projectiles, parry incoming hits, and also get out of the way of attacks aimed at him. He's not perfect, of course, but he has fun fighting and it shows.

Bringer claws: Nero has something unique to himself that neither Dante or Vergil possess- bright ephemeral wings that he can use outside his devil trigger. These wings serve for both flight as well as doing new moves, either by grabbing enemies, hurling them, or attack with them while he's in the middle of a grapple.

Insane regeneration: Most of the time, those in the Sparda line can survive an impaling or three and walk it off after a minute or so. Nero follows after this as well, but he's also known to grow back an entire limb out of the sheer desire to save his family. His healing ability is stupid to the point of taking a sword to the stomach, getting pissed about it, ripping it back out and shoving said sword back into his father's stomach before needing to go down on one knee to recover (and he's completely fine after nearly ten seconds, it's ridiculous). It's proven that these boys can even literally walk off being dead, if given enough time [I fully expect this to be nerfed while in-game].

Swordsmanship: Nero's spent a good chunk of his life learning to fight with his durandal sword, Red Queen, even going as far as upgrading her himself and removing the limiter that it placed on the sword to keep it from flying out of people's hands. He's familiar with how to also use his father's katana Yamato, even if he has no specific "style" with her, compared to Vergil's Darkslayer.

Wrestling/Hand to hand combat: While most of the family is with swords or gauntlets, Nero thrives in grappling and wrestling enemies into the floor, using close combat to bring fights to his advantage. Most of the time this is with his fists or his devil breakers, as he sees no point in using his sword when the fight is being a throwdown into the dirt.

Engineering: While Fortuna, his home, was an isolated island that remained mostly in a medieval era of living for the citizens, Nero took to learning how to take apart and put together plenty of modern things. Namely, he crafted his gun Blue Rose from scratch, and modified Red Queen to the point where the sword can only be wielded by him (it's too heavy and propels itself wildly if a normal person were to try and use it). He also knows how to fix cars and jukeboxes, both serving as a pastime of sorts for him during a lull between jobs.

Inventory: Red Queen
Blue Rose
4 Devil breakers (1 Ragtime, 1 Rawhide, 1 Overture, 1 Punchline)
Outfit
Bullets
Vergil's book

Eternal Reward: Resurrection of Credo

Goals/Ideas: Easing out of his immediate snapping at someone if he's angry. Learning to maybe not blame himself for shit he can't control? Maybe actually learning PATIENCE?? Other than that, Nero learning to grieve even just a little for Dante and Vergil just tossing themselves down into hell would be FAB.
